What is Minds in Motion®?

Minds in Motion® is a fitness and social program for people living with any form of early-stage dementia to attend with a family member, friend or other care partner.

Gentle exercises are followed by social activities designed to be enjoyed in pairs. Care partners must attend. Registration fees (in-person sessions only) include the cost of the person living with dementia and one care partner. Start at any time and pay a pro-rated registration fee.

Minds in Motion® online

The online Minds in Motion® consists of a 30-minute fitness video followed by 45 minutes of social activity and is an opportunity to connect with others living with dementia. Care partners must attend.

Groups meet weekly: 

  • Tuesdays: 10 – 11:30 a.m. or 1 – 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Wednesdays (Cantonese): 1 – 2:15 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 1 – 2:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: 1 – 2:30 p.m.    

Sessions are free to attend and hosted online via Microsoft Teams.

Minds in Motion® volunteer opportunities

Our Minds in Motion® volunteer program assistants help us to:

  • Help with the set up and clean up of refreshments, games and activities for the social part of the program.
  • Assist the program facilitator to ensure activity participation and socialization. This may include spending one-to-one time with participants who need extra support.
  • Under the direction of the fitness instructor, provide one-to-one guidance to assist participants during the fitness part of the program.
