Experience has shown that the earlier people begin to learn and strategize about living with dementia, the better they are prepared. Earlier preparation can also help caregivers and families provide support as the disease progresses.

Support programs in Huron and Perth County

The Alzheimer Society Huron Perth provides our registered clients with support through our First Link® Program. Click the link below to find information on our support groups and individual or group counselling options. Our aim is to provide a safe place to share information, thoughts, feelings and experiences.

We also help people find programs and services they need, such as day and respite programs, home support and help with the difficult transition to long-term care.

Dementia Education in Huron and Perth

Education is an important part of understanding and learning to live well with dementia. We provide education for many people whose personal or professional lives are impacted by dementia. 

Our Education Hour page offers a listing and direct registration to all or our upcoming free online webinars. These are open to anyone - we look forward to seeing you there!

Recreation Programs in Huron and Perth County

At the Alzheimer Society Huron Perth, we facilitate programs to help our clients stay active and engaged. Our in-person and online programs provide an opportunity for building and maintaining strong social connections.  

Minds in Motion®

Our popular Minds in Motion® program combines physical activity and social recreation - aiming to keep the body and the mind active! This weekly 2-hour program is currently offered online to our Huron and Perth clients, and in-person in Stratford, Listowel, and St. Mary's.

Referral Forms

If you are a Healthcare professional and would like to make a referral, please:

  1. Ask your patient or their family member’s permission to forward their name to the Alzheimer Society.
  2. Then, fill out the First Link®  Referral Form and return it to the Alzheimer Society Huron Perth. Find out more about our First Link® Program here.

Self Referral

If you are concerned that you may have dementia, or have been recently diagnosed and are unsure what your next step is, we can help you get the information you need.

Remember, dementia is not a normal part of aging.

  • If you are concerned about any of the early warning signs, talk to your doctor.
  • You know your body and you should speak up if you have worries about Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.
  • Our list of 10 warning signs can help you identify the signs of dementia.
