Land Acknowledgement - Huron County, Ontario

Man looking at sunset on Lake Huron

The Alzheimer Society of Huron County gratefully acknowledges that the geographic area we support is located on the traditional lands of the Ojibwa Chippewa of the Anishnaabe group of Indigenous peoples.  Huron County is on territory that is covered by Crown Treaty Number 29, also known as the Huron Tract Purchase of 1827.  As a community, we have the responsibility for the stewardship of the land on which we live and work. We recognize and deeply appreciate the historic and ongoing Indigenous connection to this place and the agreement with the Crown of Canada to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We commit to our ongoing learning in the journey towards reconciliation.
